Kurdi files harassment suit against Geisler

Bocaue, Bulacan - Baron Geisler pleaded not guilty to the act of lasciviousness suit filed against him by actress Yasmin Kurdi. When asked by this female reporter about Kurdis' allegation that he asked her for sex through SMS, Geisler said "Yes, I did text her to ask if she wants to have sex with me but it had a smiley face with its tongue out like this" and Geisler proceeded to smile and stick his tongue out like the smiley icon. Geisler proceeded to flick his tongue up and down and winked at this reporter repeatedly while doing the same motion with his tongue.

My teeth are bad, I hate em, a lot of em are gone and I hate wearing dentures. I've always knew that someday they will find a way to replace teeth with live ones even when the patient has stopped growing new teeth. I read an article on the November 2009 issue of JADA where some smart guys were able to demonstrate the feasibility of using bioengineered tooth germs to regenerate lost teeth on mouse models. The teeth had characteristics of naturally forming teeth such as histologic appearance and hardness of dentin. This is a step forward for my dream, I'd love to see the day when this becomes common place, given that a lot of people lose their teeth and it's a pretty useful thing to have :P

DIY BOOK READER FOR NOKIA SERIES 40 PHONES

Hi guys,

I recently bought a Nokia 5130 and it's a pretty decent phone for me since it can replace my 3 year old 1GB iPod shuffle, take pics with a 2 megapixel camera and of course function as a phone. The one thing it lacked for me (well aside from a flashlight which i happen to find VERY handy in my old phone) is the lack of an application to read documents. I searched the web for one but failed to find one so I thought of a workaround for it. All I needed was to read texts on the phone, I dont need the text to be in format or such but i just need to read it. So what I did was I copy pasted the texts from the documents to a web editor (in my case it's the Open Office Impress) and saved the file as an html file. After that, I saved the html file to my phone through the Nokia PC Suite. This allowed me to view the texts through the phone as a webpage and voila!!! problem solved. I'm sure any other web editor could work as long as you save the text as an html file :)

The Filipino in space

So I was reading the IEEE Spectrum's special issue about manned mission to Mars today and the issue was really inspiring. I wish the Philippines could send a Filipino to space someday, the whole country tunes in when Pacquiao has a fight and I'm sure the whole country will also watch it when a Filipino gets launched into space. This would surely inspire the nation to go into the sciences of which I hope many gets inspired to become engineers. Our country doesn't have a lot of natural resources and I wish this situation inspires everyone to realize that one of our greatest resources is our people. Sure, the government is fucked up but I wish everyone will take it upon themselves to just forget the government and just go on and enrich our lives. It's like a reverse laissez faire. Studying the sciences, practicing the arts, and letting the businesses compete and find their own ways to prosper are my wish for the country.

Now I know what's causing my hypokalemia!!! It's Coke!!! It all makes sense now after I read this article from BBC. An Aussie guy had severe hypokalemia from drinking tons of soda and another woman had the same case. I actually drink soda a lot, Coke in particular, and i drink it just like some other guy drinks water so I'm sure this is the cause of my recurring hypokalemia. I have an earlier post about it so yeah, now i guess i have to cut back on all that Coke and caffeine. Thanks to that BBC article i guess i could also cut back on eating bananas just to keep my potassium level up :D

Maybe I should've gotten the asus 1000 so its bigger, maybe next year when the price drops :D oh, and i got this one second hand for around $200 :D

The BASIC future phone will have....
1) Wireless charging
2) pico projectors
3) 12 megapixels
4) multi touch screen that's like 4 inches
5) with the wide screen comes integrated efficient solar panels that extend the life of batteries
6) WiMax (not very confident on this one though)

and that's it for now :D I'll treat myself to a nice bottle of Corona if i get 4 out of six :D

Mourning in the digital age

I have an uncle who killed himself some years ago and I sometimes feel I have not mourned appropriately for him. I've shed no tears for him (must be because I was already in college when it happened) but I miss him sometimes and he's one of the few people who ever gave me advice which I remember. He once told me that it was easier to lift a pen than any other stuff. This metaphor was his way of course of telling me to study hard so i can get an office job rather than get one where i had to do a lot of physical labor. The reason I mention him was that I found myself getting the urge to google his name and see what comes up. Of course there wouldn't be a record of him online neither would his works be but it got me thinking of how we SEARCH for people, even dead ones, in a internet search engine. It's as if I was hoping to meet him online magically, just as a traveller reaches into his wallet to find pictures of his far away family. Hmmmm... mourning in the digital age

Marching Band

I rode my bike tonight to the city and along the way there was a wake at some house. What was unique about this wake was that there was a full piece marching band that blocked the whole (kinda major) road but they were playing so well that I had to stop and listen. The band played 'True' from Spandau Ballet and 'After the Love has Gone' from Earth, Wind, and Fire. Hardly dirges but they played it so well and it gives you an idea of how the person lived. May he/she rest in peace and somehow his/her request for a marching band made the living a little happier (that would be me)

I came across the Mother Jones magazine today when I browsed the available magazines that my colleagues could work on. I searched Google for what type of stuff the magazine carried and the first thing to pop up was their site and a sublink to one of their photo essays about phone sex operators... SOLD!!! I click the link and bam.... a handful of tasteful photographs of phone sex operators. The photo essay affords a quick peek into the identities of these people and their profession. Although I am sure there are people who do this profession out of sheer desperation, the people in the photo essay are proud of their jobs. Browsing further, I come across another photo essay of a grandma that makes clothes for Aryans, yep, the Ku Klux Klan. While any organization that exists based solely on hate is errr... hateful (how apt eh?) the photo essay strays away from judgement (such as the previous one) and just presents the subjects as facts of life to encourage discussion, the pictures shout.... HEY!!! YES!! WE EXIST!!! And that not all of us do this out of desperation, We choose to do this job and listen to other people as they wank off if you don't like us! Suck it! (In the case of the phone sex operator essay) While the other essay shows an organization that is rooted in Americana... The grandma recounts how the old Klan used to beat up a white guy for not taking care of his family. So if you're ever bored and like to look at good photo essays, go check out Mother Jones magazine (Zeet eezz not for zee faint of heart;) )

Gaahhd I want this.... SOmetimes i want complete silence... Hearing is not like your other senses such as your sense of sight, smell, taste, touch.... you can't really shut it off at will... even if you cover it as best as you can you can still hear things.... The reason I'm saying this is because my Dad and his frat buddies (Yes, they're REALLY old now) are downstairs singing videoke... A 65 year old guy singing Bon Jovi's a bed of roses is NEVER a good thing to hear.... Plus sometimes our dogs from hell (We have 4 of 'em) NEVER stop barking... when one of them is in heat all hell breaks loose. So... DIY WInd Turbine

Awwww... A British student made a 20 sterling pound DIY wind turbine made from scraps that include an old bike frame (gotta love it), a magneto from a Vespa (plus 1 for cool factor) and other rubbish (ahmm, a little minus on that one). What the device lacks in purrttyyness, it makes up for in ingenuity, and balls, ahmmm, bearings i mean. I'd love to build one of these for myself. I imagine going to the carpark near a McDonalds restaurant (for the wifi) then propping up this 20 foot pole with a turbine stuck in the end to juice my laptop X-D. I didn't need to follow the monstrous algorithm that pogoboy taught, I had to solve the bottom part (the one with the parity) as if it was the top part, then pray to God that the NEW bottom part would not have parity. 4x4x4 Rubik's Cube

My girlfriend gave me a 4x4x4 Rubik's Cube... because she knows how addicted I got to solving the 3x3x3 one :D. My friend Ralph taught me how to solve the 3x3x3 cube and from then on I was hooked, well, not hooked hooked but I spent a lot of time playing with it after I learned how to solve it. Since I got the 4x4x4 cube I spent the whole day after Christmas looking at Pogobat's how to solve the 4x4x4 tutorial on youtube... It's pretty effective, I was able to solve the puzzle up until the last part where I met monsieur parity... Yeah, that bastard parity... I tried to follow pogobat's instructions but it was just too fast for my poor widdle brain. See my parity Riiiight doown here..... See, the two opposite corners are not in the right position. Sucks... I wish I could solve it before new year hehehe

Hypokalemia, the day after

I just posted the events of my Christmas day spent eating Bananas to regain my potassium to "cure" my hypokalemia. I eat bananas since this is high in potassium, other good sources of potassium are raisins, and uhmmm, soybeans if i remember right. If I may describe the symptoms of hypokalemia, usually, it starts with the slight inability to move my feet or my shoulders, if I'm lucky, I'll find a banana in the kitchen and eat some when I start to notice the symptoms. Sometimes it's a creeping bitch, like when the first time that I didn't know I had IT. I was DRIVING my whole family home from the province and I was feeling weak, but I thought it was just cramps. We stopped for food at a restaurant but when I tried to stand up after my meals, I fell to the floor unable to get up... (embarassing geesh). So what I do to prevent it (but lately I haven't followed this) I eat bananas, (how many times do i have to say i eat em?) even if I don't feel the symptoms. I HATE being hypokalemic, if you think scratching your back is impossible, try POOPING and washing up afterwards! If any of you unicorns have it please lemme know in the comments, again, I'd hate to think I'm the only one with the darn thing. :P Merry Christmas guys :P

Hypokalemia is a bitch

There are times when I suddenly wake up unable to FULLY move either my arms or my legs, when that happens i KNOW i'm hypokalemic AGAIN. Yep, it's a bitch. And it happened to me last night AGAIN. For those who don't know, hypokalemia is when your body lacks potassium. Potassium is actually purty important to your muscles, so when your potassium level goes below normal (normal is 3.5 to 5.5 mmol/L whatever that means) then you're screwed. When this happens, i usually cry like a little girl, ahmm, i mean i limp around the house looking for a banana.... Yes, a friggin banana. Or, if I'm in a hurry to get well (when i need to drive or need to travel) I take Kalium Durules which isn't so easy to buy here in my widdle Asian country. Back to my story, it's Christmas morning... Yes the 25th of December and it's 6:45 AM I wake up with an urge to scratch my back... I lift my left arm over my head to my back... FAIL... try it again... FAIL... ho crap, hypokalemia you are such a bitch... I wake up my girlfriend who is sleeping beside me... Honey,... Honey,... I'm hypokalemic again.... please get me a banana... or Kalium... so it's 6:45 AM and there's no store open, i tell her to mix me oral salts for the mean time, (glucolyte was the brand i took yesterday) coz that also has potassium in it. I drink a whole mixture then go back to sleep hoping my Potassium level will be ok when i wake up. I wake up at 11, i try to lift my arms..... FAIL.... i wiggle like a worm and I try to stand up... Look for my bananas... Where's my girlfriend? Did she get me Kalium? Grrr... Fail... She comes in the room, I'm grumpy as hell, (hey, you would be grumpy too if you can't scratch your back) Here, I got you bananas... She says,... I take some... I'm still angry coz I still dont have Kalium, she knows I'm pissed off, she wears her pants, and says she's going to town to buy me Kalium... I said, fuhgeddabout it, I'll just eat more bananas till I get well... SO there, I spent Christmas day eating bananas (six to be exact) until I got well, my GF's sister was kind enough to drop by the pharmacy to get me two caps of the now useless Kaliums since the Bananas already worked for me. Merry Christmas everybody, if anyone also has Hypokalemia, lemme know, please I'd hate to be the only person who suddenly goes limp :P

Christmas is some weeks away and my 9 to 5 job is buzzing with anticipation for the Christmas party. Newp, scratch that everyone hates having to work extra for the group presentations. And by golly i don't want to dance to Britneh's (yep, it's Britneh) new song, that i keep forgetting the title of. We call it the Year end party to accomodate different faiths and of course there's a theme. For this year it will be a cosplay, yep, costume play for those who dont know it. I'm looking forward to seeing deh leheydees in my office in hentai costumes. damn right. In other news, i got my bonus yesterday so that will probably go to fixing the gahdamn gypsum boards in my "new" dig. If you're ever building a new HOUSE, NEVER i mean NEVER consider gahdamn gypsum boards. They're a bitch to clean and some of the boards already fell after these warped out of shape. I mean my parents could've been hurt if that fell on them geebuz krayps! Yeah, so there, NEVER install gypsum boards for your house's ceiling, plus it looks like an office so double crap on that. (Thanks for choosing gypsum for my ceiling Dad! You're the B*E*S*T)

acer aspire one first gen

So i'm at the mall checking out the price for acer aspire one the first generation but two out of two clerks told me the downside of this particular model. Numero uno is how slow the damn thing is when you upgrade it to windows xp ( i kinda need it since my 9 to 5 work is a slave of Bill G) and how crappy uploading drivers is to the device. Linux works good on the machine though since they do recommend keeping the original OS on the machine. So, no Yahoo Messenger on the machine, crappy windows upgrade, but a heck of a lot better looking than the usual asus eee. So i guess I'll go get the asus eee just because the same price gets me a windows xp version with roughly the same specs (but crappier looks)

The only thing keeping me from TOTALLY buying a netbook (aside from the lack of money) is the fact that there seems to be NO yahoo messenger program for those little machines. I happen to NEED the webcam features of the Yahoo messenger so I don't think pidgin is going to cut it for me. I'm sure those netbooks are great for typing stuff and ahmmm... surfing the net but I NEED that webcam feature. Anyhoo, I mentioned before that I HEART Asus Eee netbooks, But right now i happen to Heart the Acer Aspire One more because it's cheaper and looks hell of a lot better.

Hey buddy, could you spare $25 million? I'd love to buy a nuclear power plant m'kay? ...What the hell? Hyperion is selling a mini nuclear power plant for that price which according to Engadget is capable of supplying power to 10,000 homes with a lifespan of 10 years. Well if this is TRUE then any small country can buy one and solve their energy crisis and fuck renewable energy. So doing the math.... that's 25,000,000 (yes that's six zeros) divided by 10 years (its operating life) divided again by 10,000 homes would mean 250 bucks a year for each house. Now tell me that ain't a good deal? Third world power companies are ya listening? But this could turn out to be something that's too good to be true.... (ya know what comes next) Nifty idea ey? So maybe after it expires in 10 years either Hyperion could refuel the darn thing OR we could chuck it to wherever radioactive waste is kept (good thing it only measures less than five feet)Wait a sec... Reading through Hyperion's website, it turns out it can power 20,000 houses... let's do the math again.... $25,000,000 divided by 10 years divided by 20,000 homes brings us to....$125 smackers... and apparently it churns out 25MWe.

Old news i know, but I was thinking about the Estonia DDOS attack in 2007 this morning. I haven't heard of another MASSIVE DDOS attack on any other country or entity but this type of "warfare" is one avenue worth exploring for small countries. Ok, I know the main suspect is Russia and Russia is not necessarily a "small country" but this attack seems like a cheap, doable and effective way to defend your coutry from another country (unless the other country is a God damn island inhabited by 3 crabs and 10 incestuous islanders)

I know that the U.S. military has some type of facility that could be used for this type of attack so I'm sure they're on board and thinking of a similar attack on another country (am I right to presume they've thought about this?). However, a small country could, i guess have a team of people to create a downloadable software that they could let people (nationalists? like minded anarchists?) put on their computers to automate attacks on a particular target (hostile country? or hapless country) So these are just random thoughts, no expert opinion, just products of an active imagination, but it is a scary and wonderful idea at the same time isn't it?

Everytime i see Anderson Silva and Rich Franklin fight it's ALWAYS an awesome fight... er... massacre... When Silva grabs a guy he's good as dead from all that knee blows to the head, the body and just everywhere. Rich Franklin is a great fighter too for facing up to Silva even though their first match saw his nose broken in the first round and the referee had to stop the fight coz he was giddy on the mat after a kicks to the head. I'd love to see a Rich Franklin vs Silva 3!!! bring it!!!!!!!

Ronaldo tried to score some bedtime action with some sexy emmmmm... denizens of the night but later found out that the ladies were packing something else between their legs. Things turned ugly in the hotel room apparently when the soccer star found out about the extra appendages that these ladies were packing in the hotel room. Ronaldo alleges the three madies... (man ladies :P ) were trying to extort him while the madies alleges that Ronaldo had taken drugs and threatened to hurt them. The streets must've been pretty dark in Rio that's fo sho! This has got to be every guy's nightmare, to be in a hotel room with three "alleged" extortionists with manginas (Man + Vag.. oh do the math) is purty scary. And to be threatened with some whoopass by a world renowned soccer player who YOU KNOW can Kick your ass after you try to earn your money must've been scary too for the transvestites. Oh lordy.

Michael Webber from the University of Texas-Austin estimates that the U.S. will consume 19 to 69 trillion (yahuh, trillion.. baby) gallons (gallons not liters) of water by 2050 in a full blown hydrogen economy. The estimates are based on the consumption of 60 billion kg of hydrogen a year and that the technology used for hydrogen production is electrolysis. WTF?!? 69 TRILLION GALLONS (that's an astronomical amount that's pretty close to Dr. Evil's ransom) As if the world was not already reeling from the effect of biofuel production on food prices then get ready for water shortages because of hydrogen production. As for me I'll be wishing for a BIIIGGGGG breakthrough in cold fusion, i said WISH mmm'kay?

Tenth Tour of the Fireflies

I joined the tenth tour of the fireflies this morning for what is probably the fourth time in my life. The tour is an annual 50 km bike ride around the cities of Manila in celebration of earth day and they encourage participants to come in costumes while riding their bikes. I see the same people who wear wacky costumes every year and I'm pretty sure the best costume award just rotates around the dozen or so cooky people. There were more than 5,000 riders on this year's tour and whenever i join the tour there's always a pattern to the crowd of bikers. The front of the peloton is where all the cooky people are... they set the pace of the tour to make sure that even the kids could finish it. So when u start seeing fairies and a whole living room set on wheels, you know you're in the front. The middle part is where the "regular" people are... but there's still a few cookies in there like a tandem bike riding couple (WTF?!? seriously?) but this is where i like to be. The last part of the peloton is reserved for the hardcore these are the riders with the expensive/ multi shock/ fat tired/ downhill or cross country mountain bikes that usually get to pedal fast due to their distance to the front of the pack, (normally coz they waited long at the numerous stops along the way) So if you're ever in Manila around earth day and you ride a bike, join the rest of us make a BIIIIGGGG traffic jam where all the cars run idle and emit greenhouse gases in celebration of earth day! And remember to choose your crowd in the peloton, the cookies, the regs, and the hippies. Happy earth day!

If you mod tech toys and shit, i have an idea for you. You know how cheap and easy to get digital frames are these days right? ( I mean you could get one for less than 50 bucks on WalMart) These things usually have a slot for SD cards (2 to 4 GB are pretty common now) and some also have USB ports on em, and they HAVE to have a chip in there somewhere right? So why don't i see anyone modding these things to run a linux for typing documents? A little more effort and these things could probably get internet access, 3G anyone? So if anyone has heard of a mod like this send the link over so i could oggle at em. Man Vs. Wild

Man Vs. Wild is awesome. It's pretty cool to see a guy head into God knows where with just a flint, a knife and his wits and always come out alive. Living in the city doesn't really provide man with the challenges that living in the woods offer. City folks are pretty used to getting what they want with just a flick of a button and such. Bear Grylls has to climb a darn coconut tree just to get something to drink and all i had to do was open my fridge to get a coke! I think i need a little challenge sometimes, just to remind myself to get off my ass and work to get food and stuff. I should move out of the house and try living on my own. And I'll make my own reality series called Me Vs. My Lazy Ass.

Ahhh... thank God for long weekends.

I got to go to Bicol for the recent long weekend with most of my family and it was such a relief to be out of the office and recharge my energies (and sanity). I took my aunt for a boat ride on the river to a not quite remote town down river. It's always been on my to-do list and i finally got to do it.
The boat ride to that nameless town took an hour and twenty minutes and i was able to see pairs of oreoles and blue kingfishers on the trees on the riverbank. Riding on that boat on a calm river made me remember how unimportant the latest techtoys are. What do I really need an Asus eee for? And a new phone? Will I really be happy if i had those? No, no, no, but I'm sure I'll be happy for a few weeks or when it's useful to me but I doubt if that will make me happy for the longterm. (Tech toys do get obsolete)
I'll keep achin for tech toys but I know that these will never make me complete or even happy for a long time. But these are great for short bursts of happiness, just like watching TV.

Achin for an Asus Eee

I've been veeeerrryyy interested with the Asus eee ever since I read about it somewhere on the internet when it was just being developed. I remember reading a post on engadget about how it was going to cost only $200 and that got me even moooorrreee interested. Well it's been out for sometime now and it's NOWHERE near the $200 price but i think it will fit my computing needs just right. It's around $400 so THAT sucks.... but i like how small the darn thing is and props for the darn little sucker for rockin a linux! (Linux is sexy!!!!) engadget posted another news about how a new version of the eee will come out with a full screen (7.9"?) and carry 16GB and now i'd love to see that out in the wild and come in that sweet sweet $200 price point.... (I'll keep dreaming)
